Crochet
My freind, Masami, is learning crochet from Patricia's grand-mother. The other day, after we had lunch over there, ( we are often invited for lunch...nice!) they started to have crochet class at the porch! I was bored just watching them, so I joined the club!!
I have been doing crochet since I was a child, so I started to make a small bag on my own. Grandma asked me "What are you making" " when I was working on the second line and said "give it to me" then without saying anything, she untied my second line!!! I was like, "Oops, what are you doing, Grandma!!!" hahaha
She started crochetting and showed me a new way...maybe Brazilian way!!!
She explained something in Portuguese but as you can imagine, I had no idea what she was saying, but I could understand what she was doing and repeated "quatro, dois, quatro, dois, ne!" (Four, two, four, two, right?) . I went back to my seat and continued. We had about an hour of crochet class, and grandma said, "OK, see you next monday!!" and went back to her home.
Today was the Monday but my friend had to work, so I went to the host family's house alone for the first time. Grandma wasn't there when I arrived so I watched TV with Ivanuldo and Edinede! While we were waiting the grandma to arrive, they asked me some questions. I'm not sure if I had the right answers for their questions, but Ivanuldo always laughs no matter what anyone says so we had a good time?!! haha
Once grandma arrived, we had crochet class for about one and half hour!! Again, I could only repeat numbers, but I finished one side. She said, she would teach me how to put two pieces together next time!!! That means, I have to finish another side by the next class....
Without my friend, who is my translator, I had really hard time but I could survive this afternoon !!!!
Edineide gave me fruits that grew in thier garden and told me which one we should eat first!
I told her that I will walk back and I safely came back to my freind's apartment!!!
It was the first experience to really spend about 3-4 hours with no English or Japanese!!! I did good!!! hahaha
p.s. it's almost like I live here not like I'm a tourist...so I often forget to bring a camera with me. Next time, I will try to remember and take a pictures of grandma!!!
